I have a blog!

I'm starting this blog with two audiences in mind:

1) People I know who are not on Facebook (that would be...um...Mom and Dad?)
2) People who are not satisfied by the rather brief updates to which Facebook lends itself.

Basically, I plan to put together a post about once or twice a week letting my friends and family know how life is treating me in Honolulu. And so far, so good.

My apartment is gorgeous with lots of natural light (plus it came almost fully furnished), I am literally steps away from campus, there's a bus system I have yet to figure out that should take me pretty much anywhere I need to go beyond a short walk, I'm getting to know my very nice fellow tenants (I've been invited to a potluck Friday night), and my cats are slowly but surely getting used to the new time zone. I think they only woke me up twice last night as opposed to three times the night before. Mmmph...

Speaking of the cats, they will soon be happily exploring a 5'6" kitty condo with three (count 'em) three levels, courtesy of craigslist. None of the local pet stores had the kind I was looking for, and Petsmart does not deliver such big bulky items to Hawai'i (seems a lot of mainland stores feel the same way...). It's for the best, though, because the Petsmart one was wildly expensive, and the "expensive" on this one is a little more subdued.

There's still a lot to do before I feel like this apartment truly has my stamp on it, but the list is shrinking. That is, of course, until 20 boxes of my shite throw everything back into confusion for a while. Storage is not, shall we say, abundant. Creative organizing will be key.

That's it for now. Classes start next week! My schedule is pretty frickin' cushy (I'm in class Tues-Thurs from 5:00-7:40). Which leaves tons of time for...right, studying, schoolwork, and paper-writing. Ahem.
